Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area (KRCA) is an area of approximately 52 ha and is situated in the centre of Kenilworth Racecourse. It was established in 1882 when it was identified as one of the 35 core botanical sites.

Being the largest stretch of natural vegetation remaining in Cape Town's Southern suburbs KRCA's Fynbos remnants are also of great historic and cultural significance. A further value of such natural habitat is its educational potential, especially as it is situated in a populated urban environment.

KRCA is regarded as the best example of Sand Plain Fynbos remaining in Cape Peninsula and is the home to at least 283 indigenous plant species that have made use of this unique ecological site.
